Challenge

The National Archives of the Netherlands holds over 3.5 million records that have been created by the central government, organizations and individuals. They are a national treasure.

A new efficient comfort cooling system was required for a renovation project aimed at ensuring the preservation of all the archived documents.

Solution

Trane's local expert team collaborated in designing the hydraulic system to achieve a more effective and more sustainable HVAC installation. One CGWN water-to-water heat pump and three City RTSF chillers were installed to ensure comfort cooling of the building and reliable dehumidification of the archives.

With their compact and modular design, the low GWP City chillers are extremely suitable for renovation projects. The high efficiency units are equipped with a very reliable direct drive, low speed screw compressor and the R1234ze refrigerant with a below 1 GWP.

Results

The Trane City chillers and heat pump units have helped the government building efficintly balance their cooling and heating needs resulting in much better carbon footprint and lower maintenance.
