Challenge
When an organization develops innovative and environmentally friendly fruit fly management strategies, such as Sterile Insect Technology (SIT), Trane’s innovative temperature-controlled containers fit perfectly into the process.
SIT is an environmentally friendly insect pest control method involving the release of sterile insects into a wild population. When applied to fruit flies, sterile male flies compete with wild males and unsuccessfully breed with females, which decreases the population over time. The larvae of the sterile flies must be bred and kept in strict temperature-controlled environments.
