Trane Introduces RTXC, New Air-to-Water Heat Pump with Screw Compressor Technology

Trane RTXC offers market leading heating and cooling efficiencies, continuous capacity control and reliable performances thanks to Trane screw compressor technology

Brussels, May 4, 2021 – Trane®, a leading global provider of indoor comfort solutions and services and a brand of Trane Technologies, introduced today the RTXC, its first European air-to-water heat pump with proprietary screw compressor technology. Offering market leading efficiencies, renowned reliability of the screw compressor and wide operating map, the RTXC meets the requirements for robust and high-performance comfort cooling and heating across Europe.

The Trane screw compressor technology enables the RTXC heat pump to continuously control its capacity, which significantly enhances the water temperature stability. The performance is managed by the Trane Tracer™ UC800 adaptive controller, which can keep the unit running despite the most challenging conditions and occurrences, when other units would simply shut down.

Office buildings, hospitals, hotels and other buildings requiring energy efficient comfort cooling and heating system can now benefit from the Trane RTXC market leading efficiency. With up to 20 percent better efficiency than competitive units, and coefficient of performance (COP) level of 3.5, the Trane RTXC offers lower operating costs and reduces the energy intensity of the building. Market leading operating map and the ability to deliver 55 degrees Celsius of heating at an ambient temperature as low as -10 degrees Celsius makes the RTXC an ideal solution for comfort heating applications across Europe.

Erik van Oossanen, portfolio manager at Trane Europe: At Trane, we keep increasing the number of options and technologies for our customers that create opportunities to increase the efficiency of their buildings. Air-to-water heat pumps move energy from the ambient air into the building, delivering renewable energy, and helping reduce the energy intensity of buildings tremendously. By launching the RTXC air-to-water heat pump based on our renowned screw compressor, we’re now taking another step forward in that direction.

The key features of the new Trane RTXC heat pump include:

- Proprietary Trane screw compressor and 380 to 770kW of continuous heating and cooling capacity.
- Market leading efficiency and operating map delivering heat pump operation and hot water up to 55°C at down to -10°C ambient temperature.
- Class A in full load efficiency cooling and heating
- Air-sourced renewable technology with lower carbon footprint compared to fossil fuel technologies
- Partial heat recovery system, allowing customers to repurpose the “free heat” while also delivering comfort cooling at the same time.
- The RTXC air to water heat pump will be available with R134a and R513A.
