Trane Redefines Data Center Thermal Management with Integrated, End-to-End Systems at Data Centre World Frankfurt

Trane to demonstrate how thermal management systems integrating advanced cooling technologies, intelligent controls, heat recovery solutions, CDUs, and lifespan services, deliver sustainable and reliable performance for AI ready data centers.

Brussels, Belgium, April 30, 2026 - Trane®, a leading global provider of thermal management solutions and services and a brand of Trane Technologies, will present one of the broadest and most capable portfolios of applied thermal systems at Data Centre World Frankfurt (DCW), from 6-7 May 2026. As Germany moves toward doubling its AI related data center capacity by 2030, Trane will demonstrate how holistic, system-level approach to cooling and thermal architectures enables data center operators to balance performance, resiliency, and energy efficiency at scale.

Trane’s end-to-end thermal management approach helps transform a data center’s largest energy cost into a performance and investment advantage, enabling reclaimed power to be redirected toward compute capacity or future expansion. From air and water cooled chillers, chiller plant controls and intelligent system automation, fan coil walls and heat recovery solutions, to coolant distribution units (CDUs) and advanced liquid cooling through the LiquidStack brand, Trane systems are designed to unlock efficiency and enable energy reallocation for next generation compute environments.

“The rapid rise of AI, generative AI, and large scale training clusters is driving unprecedented thermal loads. As workloads intensify and heat increases across chips, power delivery and networking equipment, cooling can no longer be treated as a set of components, it must be engineered as an integrated performance system,” said Lauri Salmia, data center portfolio manager at Trane. “Trane collaborates with customers and technology partners focusing on systems level co development to balance performance, resiliency and energy efficiency at scale, designing thermal architectures as strategic infrastructure, not utilities. Our investment in people, infrastructure, and training ensures the scale, speed, and quality needed for the next-generation data centers.”

Unveiling Next Generation Thermal Solutions at Data Center World Frankfurt
Visitors to Trane stand L155 at the DCW exhibition in Frankfurt, Germany will be able to explore the full range of integrated thermal technologies including the LiquidStack CDU, the expanded Trane Sintesis™ eXcellent GVAF chiller portfolio and the XStream™ RTWF HT heat pump. Interactive VR experience will also allow for an immersive demonstration how integrated, end to end thermal systems elevate data center performance.

Coolant Distribution Units (CDUs) by LiquidStack, now fully integrated into Trane’s thermal system architectures following the recently announced acquisition, will be a major highlight at the Trane stand. Purpose-built for hyperscale, AI cloud and colocation environments, LiquidStack’s CDU portfolio delivers high-performance direct-to-chip liquid cooling that deploys fast and scales with demand. GigaModular – the original modular CDU platform – enables centralized control, flexible system design and true system-level scalability, supporting deployments from 2.5MW to 10MW. The CDU-1MW complements this with a compact, high-density solution delivering up to 1.35MW of cooling, engineered for fast, reliable deployment across both new builds and retrofit environments.

Trane Sintesis™ GVAF DC chiller is engineered for high density, mission critical environments, delivering higher capacities and improved efficiency across a broad operating map. The expanded GVAF range now extends output to 2.5 MW while ensuring reliable performance in ambient conditions even up to 54 °C. These advancements give data center operators more efficient design flexibility for hyperscale, colocation, and industrial applications. All models are optimised for ultra low GWP R1234ze refrigerant, with optional CORE™ condensers available to further increase heat rejection effectiveness, free‑cooling hours throughout the year, capacity per square metre and full load performance.

Trane XStream™ RTWF HT high temperature water to water heat pump enables circular energy usage by transforming low grade heat from data centers into useful heat for district heating networks and industrial applications. This supports operators in meeting emerging German and EU heat reuse expectations and improving overall environmental performance. Built on Trane’s proven XStream™ platform, the system delivers hot water temperatures up to 105 °C and heating capacities up to 1,500 kW.

Trane’s system architecture of air, water and liquid cooling equipment, heat pumps and free cooling is supported and coordinated by intelligent controls. Real time monitoring, anomaly detection and adaptive optimisation maintain stability under fluctuating loads and weather conditions, enabling data centers to reduce energy consumption, improve uptime and plan effectively for future scaling. Trane’s connected and automated architectures, in house manufacturing and full system expertise allow rapid response to changing technologies, regulatory requirements and capacity demands.

Supported by one of the industry’s largest networks of service technicians located close to where data centers are built, Trane helps ensure long term resilience and predictable operational performance. Together, these strengths enable the design of smarter, more resilient and scalable system architectures where cooling becomes a performance multiplier, unlocking greater compute capacity and efficiency.
