Managing energy consumption reduction starts by creating a baseline to serve as a reference. Trane has developed a quick and non-invasive solution that can help in building up this baseline for most HVAC components, such as chillers, heat pumps, water pumps and dry coolers.
Data is recorded and stored in the cloud for a given period. It is then analyzed to provide information about installation behavior – comparing electrical energy consumption versus heating / cooling energy produced, or energy usage for given time periods. This information can help highlight abnormal behavior, for example pumps that are running 24/7 when only needed on week days.
Assessment based on real live data
Trane Audit Case is a non-invasive metering solution, developed specifically to audit HVAC equipment and ancillaries. The following can all be measured:
• Chiller Cooling Capacity and Power Input
• Chilled water leaving & entering water temperatures
• Ambient temperature
• HVAC ancillaries power inputs (pumps / cooling towers / dry coolers)
To perform a reliable audit of system performance, all systems data (energy used, entering and leaving water across all equipment) is measured and captured over a two-week period for analysis at a later date
Energy usage pattern at a glance
Trane has developed an in-house data analysis software solution which turns raw data into user-friendly information. This makes it easy to highlight improper patterns, define root causes and provide solutions. Fully detailed reports are shared with customers and include observations and recommendations for system upgrades.
Non-invasive audit
Trane's audit solution makes it easy than ever to conduct a chiller plant energy audit using surface mount sensors, Rogowski type current sensors and wireless communication between metering devices. This makes physical installation secure, safe and straightforward, with no impact on existing equipment.
