Challenge

A six-hectare luxury residential complex in Monaco wanted to take a revolutionary approach to cooling and heating with a cutting-edge combination of technologies. The goal was to recover energy from both the city water loop along with Mediterranean sea water to deliver the needed cooling and heating needs of the complex.

This impressive project had some very specific constraints – such as the impact of the energy footprint and the need for a high efficiency and sustainable HVAC system.

• Needed cooling process temperature: 7°C
• Needed cooling process temperature: 45°C
• Needed Domestic Water process temperature: 60°C

Solution

After years of collaboration with the Principality of Monaco on numerous urban projects, Trane was selected to provide the HVAC system that would supply the needed air conditioning, heating and domestic hot water for this remarkable project.

These simultaneous heating and cooling needs would be
carried out by thermodynamic units connected to a thalassothermic loop.

Trane designed a solution with a set of two RTWF 320 G HSE units and Trane Chiller Plant Control.

Results

Our team made the difference for this client by providing a solution that exactly met their requirements.

This sustainable low carbon cooling and heating system is extremely efficient and allows the client to make significant savings on both energy consumption and operating costs.
