Infomaniak Data Centre Integrates Trane Heat Pumps for Large-Scale Heat Recovery
In Geneva’s residential district, Infomaniak has redefined data‑center efficiency by eliminating conventional chillers and capturing up to 100% of waste heat from its underground facility. Two advanced Trane heat pumps upgrade server heat for integration into the city’s district heating network, supplying enough energy to warm 6,000 homes in winter or deliver 20,000 hot showers in summer.
This closed‑loop system produces 14.9 GWh annually, avoiding up to 5,500 tCO₂eq emissions and over 200 heavy‑vehicle trips, while earning top Swiss sustainability awards. Operational capacity will be reached by 2028, with at least 20 years of clean, circular energy supply — proving that high‑performance digital infrastructure can be a powerful community asset.
