
Challenge
A small but rapidly expanding company in Adeleide, Australia, specialized in harvesting Goolwa cockles, also known as Pipis, contacted Trane for a cold storage solution for their expanding business.
Pipis, the small clam-like bivalve shellfish, require reliable controlled temperature storage at -20°C after harvesting and ready for export to European seafood buyers.
Trane Rental experts conducted a discovery meeting to understand customer needs and the business goals, to assess the current refrigeration system on-site which had become insufficient for their growing, year-round operations.
Solution
The Trane Rental team recommended the 48' cold storage units that fit 2 pallets in their width. These large units will be new to the Australian rental fleet.
Until the 48' unit is delivered, a 40' C-Store cold store, under an EAASY (Equipment-As-A Service) long term rental contract to meet the immediate needs for rapid implementation of additional storage.
Results
This solution secured the local Adelade operations and allowed the company to successfully start their export business towards Spain, Greece and Italy. Trane’s customer has the peace of mind with sufficient storage to handle the increased activity, and even more in the future.
In addition, the trusting partnership triggered discussions regarding additional opportunities to work together. One topic is the usage of Trane Cold storage containers with GenSet generators required to be at destination on the docks. Another topic to explore is regarding food events. The customer, who will also exhibiting at Seafood Expo Global in Barcelona https://www.seafoodexpo.com/global/, the world’s largest seafood trade event where Trane can provide cold storage solutions to preserve freshness during the event.
The ultimate result? Foodies will experience super-fresh seafood, even far from southern Australia, thanks to Trane’s reliable temperature-controlled cold storage containers.
