Challenge

The NEMO Science Museum in Amsterdam is one of the largest museums in the Netherlands. Designed by Renzo Piano, it is well-known not only for its striking architecture but also as an important learning centre for the sciences and technology.

As part of a total renovation of its cooling and heating installation, the Museum wanted to replace its old units with a new small footprint, high performance and energy efficient system, providing a more reliable, indoor comfort experience for visitors. The final goal of the renovation project is for the museum to become fully electric in the next few years.

Solution

Trane provided a top-class performance Sintesis Advantage Sintesis Advantage CXAF heat pump and a CityBoster RTSF water-to-water heat pump. This hybrid system alllow to provide cooling and heating to the building with the CXAF as well as supplying domestic hot water and heat with the RTSF.

Results

The new installation allows a sustainable installation while providing more reliable comfort for staff and visitors.
