Challenge
A cheese manufacturer in France was looking for a new reliable process cooling system that would help a sustainable transition. An air-cooled chiller air-cooled chiller was required to deliver precise low temperature between -3° to 1°C for the cheese-making process. The challenge was both to improve an old installation and reduce gas consumption. The main constraint was to limit the cooling unit to match the power of the factory.
Solution
Trane offerd a highly sustainable solution combining a RTAF 130 HSS SN - THR with a RTSF 050 and using R1234ze refrigerant.
The air-cooled RTAF chiller provides the requested precise low temperature needed for the cheese-making process.
The heat recovery option allows to reuse the energy extracted from the cooling process. The City RTSF heat pump elevates the temperature up to 80°C to produce comfort heating and hot sanitary water.
The highly efficient process is set up with no compromise on safety or performance:
• Ozone impact: 0 ODP (Ozone Depletion Potential)
• Global Warming Potential: GWP <1 (less than CO2)
• No TriFluoracetic Acid (TFA) production
• Non-flammable R1234ze at room temperature below 30°C (Class 2L)
• Non-toxic (Class A)
Results
Trane made the difference thanks to the reliability of our products, our low temperature systems experience and our highly skilled service organization. This new system has been delivering efficient process cooling and low carbon footprint which allows great energy cost savings.
From warehousing to food processing plants, Trane extended portfolio of 90kW to 1200 kW units can meet the needs of all food and drink applications down to -12°C.
