Challenge
A subsidiary of one of the world’s leading milk transformation companies was seeking to increase capacity at its sites in Hungary.
The company’s production facilities both had different requirements but the end goal for the two sites was the same – to ensure it had the requisite capabilities to increase production.
The company was already a Trane customer and was therefore already very well aware of Trane’s expertise in providing reliable and robust chiller and cold storage solutions.
At the first site, a Trane chiller was already in use but coming to the end of a five-year Trane EaaSy Rental period. The chiller had originally been installed to replace some ammonia chillers that were 30 to 40 years old. The customer’s requirement was for a new rental chiller with the low temperature applications needed – from 0 degrees to -2°C – in order to produce the iced water used in their manufacturing processes.
At the second site, the customer had run out of cold storage space in its main building and needed to increase capacity. Its finished products require cold storage at 8°C.
Solution
At the first site, Trane carried out a site assessment. Based on the customer’s evolving needs and sustainability target, the Hungarian team provided an RTAF 410 SE rental chiller to upgrade the chiller unit installed in 2017. The RTAF range offers low energy consumption, discreet and silent operation, has an easy-to-use controller and is built using highly reliable and robust components. Trane’s solution, which also included remote monitoring, greatly increased capacity at the plant including increased stand-by capacity.
At the second site, Trane installed a 40’ containerized cold store – accessible from within the main building – to supplement existing cold storage capability.
Results
Although very different, Trane’s solutions for the two sites demonstrated very clearly why Trane is an obvious choice for customers where either low to ultra-low cooling capacity is required or the ability to store high-value end products at low to ultra-low temperatures.
Trane Rental Services offer a fast and easy way to implement solutions with no construction or capital costs. Furthermore, Trane Europe’s huge rental portfolio coupled with its extensive in-house expertise across all chiller, heat pump and cold storage solutions means customers can be sure that Trane’s recommendations are the most appropriate for their needs.
At both sites, the customer opted for a Trane EaaSy rental contract. EaaSy stands for “Equipment-as-a-Service” and it’s a formula that provides a host of benefits for customers. Companies can replace equipment with more efficient units every five years – a much faster pace than a typical ownership model would allow. With Trane more than doubling chiller efficiency in the last five years, this gives customers a massive opportunity for savings. The “Equipment-as-a-Service” formula also ensures rental equipment is expertly maintained with 24/7 support from Trane’s extensive network of service engineers and technicians to ensure cooling supply is restored as quickly as possible, either by repairing or replacing equipment.
EaaSy rental is suitable for both short-term or long-term rental and ensures organisations can install exactly the equipment they need without the risk, cost and burden of ownership. Trane’s rental fleet includes cold storage solutions in a range of sizes and chillers capable of low to ultra-low temperature solutions ranging from -70°C to +40°C.
